Rozen Maiden - Anime

Anime

Rozen Maiden (first season)

The first season of Rozen Maiden focuses primarily on the psychological rehabilitation of Jun Sakurada. He is a hikikomori, and spends most of his time locked in the safety of his room and ordering items from the internet. However, through a strange order form, he finds himself in possession of an enchanted doll that calls herself "Shinku, the fifth Rozen Maiden doll". Much to Jun's displeasure, Shinku calls on him to create a strange bond with her, and the socially disinclined boy winds up being her "servant". The series follows the two of them as they encounter more Rozen Maidens, dolls that for the most part seem to want nothing more than to drink tea, destroy windows, and draw on his floor with crayons. In this season, five dolls are introduced: Shinku, Hinaichigo, Suigintou, Suiseiseki, and Souseiseki. Suigintou is the primary villain.

Rozen Maiden's first season consists of twelve episodes that began airing on October 7, 2004 and ended on December 23, 2004.

Rozen Maiden ~träumend~ (second season)

The second season of Rozen Maiden, subtitled träumend (トロイメント toroimento?) has a slightly darker tone. Träumend is German for "dreaming." The episodes are more plot-driven and deal with topics such as "Father" — the Rozen Maiden's creator — and the inevitable conclusion to the "Alice Game." Jun does not yet attend school (he has much work to make up before he can go back), but studies at home and at the local library. He is much more willing and eager to go outside the house, and seems to have even grown fond of the ever-present dolls. Shinku has also been changed, thanks to the events of the previous season, but she is generally as aristocratic as ever, lecturing and punishing Jun at every opportunity. Several new non-doll characters are introduced, including a riddle-spouting, tuxedo-attired anthropomorphic rabbit and two mysterious men who operate a doll shop. The final group of dolls also appear this season: Kanaria, the second doll, Barasuishou, who introduces herself as the seventh doll, and Kirakishou, the true seventh doll (though not by name).

Rozen Maiden: träumend consists of twelve episodes that began airing on October 20, 2005 and ended on January 26, 2006. As all Geneon releases after November 6, 2007 have been cancelled, the first volume DVD is the only one available in the United States for the foreseeable future.

Detective Kunkun – Duell Walzer OVA

Duell Walzer OVA is a 7 minute Detective Kunkun episode. The show is presented as an opera performance with curtains, showtime buzzer and stage. The story is about how Detective Kunkun foils the evil cat's plans to steal a beautiful gem from another character. The story may be short, but the means Detective Kunkun uses to solve the crime is brilliant and well thought out. This episode portrays watching Detective Kunkun's show from a Rozen Maiden doll's perspective.

"Duell Walzer OVA" consists of only one episode, and is found on the Rozen Maiden-Duellwalzer PlayStation 2 game disc.

Rozen Maiden ouvertüre

This two-part Rozen Maiden special was aired on the December 22, 2006 and December 23, 2006 on TBS in Japan. It is a brief prequel to the events of the TV series. ouvertüre (オーベルテューレ ōberutyūre?), German for "opening", is set at some point during träumend (most likely between episodes six and seven) and answers critical questions about Suigintou's past, particularly those pertaining to the rivalry she holds with Shinku. The majority of the two-episode special is told by Souseiseki and takes place as a flashback to the nineteenth century in London. Ali Project once again lends its talents for the opening song. As with the series, Kukui sings the ending theme.

Rozen Maiden ouvertüre consists of 2 episodes that began airing on December 22, 2006 and ended on December 23, 2006.

Zombie Loan - Main Characters Profiles

Characters

From L to R: Shito, Chika, and Michiru.
From L to R: Shito, Chika, and Michiru.
Michiru Kita (紀多 みちる Kita Michiru?) , Seiyū - Houko Kuwashima
Michiru possesses Shinigami Eyes, which allows her to see a ring on a person's neck, indicating their impending death. However, she has hated her gift ever since she saw dark rings around her parents' necks, who died in an accident after the rings turned jet black. She now wears glasses that can subdue her gift, allowing her to live her life normally. Although, since the death of her parents, she has felt a numb complacency with life, living it out, but having no will to achieve anything or even care if she dies or not, an attitude which disgusts Shito.
Michiru first meets Chika and Shito in the hallways of her school, accidentally tripping over Chika's hand. After she ends up finding out their secret, they initially think of killing her, but when they find out that she has Shinigami Eyes, they instead inform her that she will be using her powers to help them fight zombies, despite her protests. After various failures and meeting other members of the Z-Loan office, Michiru comes to accept her new job.
She often takes the brunt of Chika's abuse and is initially called '500-yen' by him, due to the fact that he believes she owes him ¥500. He later begins to call her a "gopher" since she often does what other people ask of her without question.[3]
Chika Akatsuki (赤月 知佳 Akatsuki Chika?) , Seiyū - Kenichi Suzumura
Chika is referred to as "Boy B" or simply "B" ("B-san"), titles which greatly irritates him, after surviving an accident with Shito, known as "Boy-A", six months prior to the start of the series. His attitude is rather lively, but he is also short-tempered; he is often seen beating Michiru for her various failures.
Chika is linked with Shito by a spiritual chain, which cannot be seen by normal people. This chain allows them to switch their right hands with each other; due to the terms of their contract, their real right hands, which they both lost in the accident, were switched when they were revived by the Zombie-Loan. With Shito's right hand, which is actually Chika's original right hand, Chika has the ability to generate a katana possessing Shinigami abilities.[3] With the katana, Chika is able to perform spiritual memorials for zombies they defeat. Though often seen with a short temper, Chika has a genuine care for those he defeats and often performs their memorial with great sympathy. Though they have free will and emotions, both Chika and Shito are still considered zombies, so their ultimate goal is to regain their lives once again.
Shito Tachibana (橘 思徒 Tachibana Shito?) , Seiyū - Takahiro Sakurai
Shito is referred to as "Boy A" or simply "A" ("A-san") by most students in his school. Due to his looks and attitude, he is seen as an idol by the female students, though he seems to not care. He is generally a much more approachable person than Chika, but certain situations and people cause him to act cold and indifferent; when Michiru first told him that she had no real will to live, he told her how disgusted that made him feel, going on to say that he believes she does not deserve the right to live.
Shito is linked with Chika by a spiritual chain. When he attaches Chika's right hand, or rather his own original right hand, he can generate a 9½ inch Ruger Super Redhawk revolver, which has the power to harm zombies with its spiritual bullets using his own ectoplasm.[3] As with Chika, Shito's goal is to regain his life once again so that he may live as a normal human. Though they are always together, Chika and Shito are far from friends; they are only close together because if they are apart, their hands (the ones that are chained) will begin to rot. He was supposedly offered a contract the same time with Chika during the accident, but the reality is that his mother was a corpse and gave birth to Shito, therefore he is a corpse as well. His mother was pregnant with Shito for 7 years. He is the heir of the notorious 'Xu Fu' mafia.

Shugo Chara!- Profiles

Hinamori family

Amu Hinamori
Amu Hinamori
Amu Hinamori (日奈森 あむ Hinamori Amu?)
Voiced by: Kanae Itō (speaking) Voiced by: Momoko Tsugunaga (singing)
  • Height: 152 cm, Birthday: September 24, Blood type: O
  • Guardian Chara: Ran, Miki, Suu
Protagonist. A student of Seiyo Elementary (fifth grade at start of story). Her charm point is her "×"-shape hair clip. During Chara Change and Chara Become her hair clip changes (Ran→Heart, Miki→Spade, Suu→Club) and the Chara Become forms are named: Ran→Amulet Heart, Miki→Amulet Spade, Suu→Amulet Clover. The characters Amu becomes are good at certain activities like Amulet Heart who is athletic, Amulet Spade who is good at Art and Crafts, and Amulet Clover who is good at cooking (all house-work in general).
Amu was seen as a cool and stylish girl and has become popular at school but what she really is is just a shy, gentle, docile and extremely normal girl. The main reason for this misunderstanding is the trendy punky clothing her mother buys for her. One night she wished she wasn't the type of person she currently was, and on the next morning, three Guardian Eggs appeared. She has a crush on Hotori Tadase, the King's Chair of Seiyo Elementary's Guardians. She confessed her feelings but was rejected.
At first, she rejected the offer to join the Guardians with the reason that she does not want to wear the royal cape. But on Tadase's sincere invitation, she joins the Guardians under a special position, the Joker. On joining the Guardians, she received the "Humpty Lock", a locket with a four leaf clover decoration. Nadeshiko stated that the last king left it and said 'entrust this to the joker whom comes with three Guardian Eggs'. Later on, it was explained to her that the Joker's duty to hunt X-Eggs.
It is seen that Amu might have a slight crush on Ikuto as whenever he touches her, she blushes. In volume 5, Amu goes on a date with Tadase, which shows a little bit more development of their relationship. She also was confronted by Ikuto, on her date, resulting to a confession from Ikuto saying the actual reason he bothers her is because he is interested in her.

Midori Hinamori (日奈森 みどり Hinamori Midori?)
Voiced by: Kazusa Murai
Amu's mother. Editor of the magazine Housewives' Knowledge.
Tsumugu Hinamori (日奈森 つむぐ Hinamori Tsumugu?)
Voiced by: Yūsei Oda
Amu's father. A wild bird cameraman. He loves his two daughters and refers to them with names like "papa's little sparrows" and "papa's shining star".
Ami Hinamori (日奈森 あみ Hinamori Ami?)
Voiced by: Kurumi Mamiya
Amu's three-year-old sister. In chapter 4 of the manga, Ami thought Amu's Guardian Characters were dolls, so Amu left her Guardian Characters with Ami so Amu could deliver sweets to Tadase, only to soon find out that she delivered the wrong thing. In the Japanese version of the manga, Ami merely said shugoi, and the Guardian Characters thought she was mispronouncing "Shugo Chara". Unlike Amu, Ami is dressed in "Girly Lolita" clothing. She respects and looks up to both Utau and Amu. She loves to sing.

Guardian

The student council of Seiyo Elementary, handle document arranging, speeches, and other things. But all the members have Guardian Characters, and are searching for the embryo too. They all wear a royal cape (mantle) over their uniform.

Tadase Hotori
Tadase Hotori
Tadase Hotori (辺里 唯世 Hotori Tadase?)
Voiced by: Reiko Takagi
  • Birthday: March 29, Blood type: B, allergic to pollen
  • Guardian Chara: Kiseki
The boy the same age as Amu who serves as the K-Chair (King's Chair). His alias is "Prince", and is Amu's love interest. Whenever he is called "Prince", his character changes into a violent, egotistical king who wishes to rule the world. Because of this, he does not do Chara Change with Kiseki unless it's absolutely necessary. Actually, he too is a shy person and is not a public speaker. So he wished to become stronger and become another character, much like Amu. He, along with the other guardians, tried to get Amu to join because of a prophecy about a girl who will appear with three Guardian Eggs. He lives in a traditional Japanese house. He had a precious dog named Betty (name learned in volume 2 of the manga) who died recently, and is still upset about it.
He claims to have a crush on Amulet Heart. He once also said that he loved Amu because Amulet Heart is her "self that she wants to be". At first he is about the same height as Amu, later on he grew taller. At one time he lost confidence as he can't seem to find the Embryo at all. At that time he was affected by the Black Diamonds CD, causing Kiseki to change to an X-Egg. Luckily Amu helped him out of this crisis and after that he is able to do Chara Become.
Nadeshiko Fujisaki
Nadeshiko Fujisaki
Nadeshiko Fujisaki (藤咲 なでしこ Fujisaki Nadeshiko?) (real name Nagihiko Fujisaki (藤咲 なぎひこ Fujisaki Nagihiko?))
Voiced by: Saeko Chiba
  • Birthday: July 4, Blood Type: AB
  • Guardian Chara: Temari
The former Q-Chair (Queen's Chair). Same age as Amu. When Amu rejected the offer to join the Guardians, Nadashiko tried many ways to convince Amu. She helps Amu bake sweets for Tadase as a birthday present for him. Her character after Chara Change is a battle-hungry yakuza type who speaks in Hiroshima slang and carries a naginata.
It was revealed later on in the manga that Nadeshiko is a boy and his real name is Nagihiko. It is the rule of the Fujisaki family that the males are trained to become oyama (male actors who plays female parts in kabuki). That is why Nagihiko wears female clothes and goes by a female name. She is currently studying abroad in Europe to make his dancing "complete". It is hinted that he will return, as a similar-looking character has been around in the latest chapters.
He is yet to do Character Become with Temari.
In all, He is good friends with Amu, he looks over and supports Amu in her love life.

Once, in the school magazine, he and Amu are mistaken to be a couple as a student got a picture of him holding Amu after she came out of her Character Change and lost her strength. He has graduated, which is the reason he has been replaced. Saaya appears to have a crush on him, as when a school paper ran a rumour that he was in love with Amu, she was furious. The words 'Kick, Stack, Trap and Shoot!' spark his Character Change.

  • Guardian Chara: Kusu Kusu

The boy serving as the new J-Chair. He is tall but actually he is two years junior to Amu. He prepares for Guardian's activities. Though the youngest he is capable, Amu and Yaya call him "class president". Wears spectacles. He is Utau's elder brother. He refers to Tadase as "Child King".
He signed a contract with Easter and is looking for the Embryo, an egg that will grant any wish. Its because of that he becomes an enemy to Amu, but privately he helps Amu in the shadows. In the latest chapters, his relationship with Amu has taken a turn for the better. He has even said that he is "interested" in her. When Utau forcefully kissed him, he thought Amu would be jealous so he asked her if she wanted a kiss.

Utau Hoshina (ほしな 歌唄 Hoshina Utau?) (real name Utau Tsukiyomi (月詠 歌唄 Tsukiyomi Utau?))
Voiced by: Nana Mizuki
  • Birthday: November 9, Blood Type: A
  • Guardian Chara: Iru, Eru
A 14-year-old junior high student idol. She sings in plays. Lunatic Charm is the name of Iru's Chara Become, during Chara Become and Chara Change Utau grows devil wings. The other Guardian Chara, Eru, is now with Amu in the place of Dia. The gentle Eru seems to be treated badly, Eru performed Chara Become with Amu and it surprised Utau.
She is actually Ikuto's sister, Utau Tsukiyomi. She has a brother complex and chases any woman near Ikuto and calls them "bugs". Whenever she enters Ikuto's sight, she disables her Chara Become and by all means tries to please her brother. At one time, through the power of the Humpty Lock, she did a Chara Become with Amu's Dia Guardian Egg, thus becoming Dark Jewel.
She is the vocalist of the indie band "Black Diamonds" which is produced by her manager, Yukari Sanjou. She also has feelings for her brother and even forcefully kissed him once.

She came up with a new project "Black Diamond" to at the same find the Embryo and mass-produce X-Eggs. The CDs of the band were freely distributed and the people listening to it will have their Eggs removed by force. As the band became more famous their song is slated to be released to the Internet together with the unveiling of the band. In Seiyo it is branded as a cursed CD. Kairi snuck the CD into Tadase's bag. When Tadase listened to it, he became infected causing Kiseki to change into an X-Egg, but Amu came and saved him.
Gozen (御前?)
Has only been mentioned and is yet to appear. The people of Easter Company refer to him as "Gozen" and his real name and gender are unknown. Ikuto refers to Gozen as "the greatest person in Easter" so it could be possible that Gozen is the company president. Amu's Guardian Chara

Their names came from the Japanese idol group Candies.

From left to right: Miki, Ran, Suu
From left to right: Miki, Ran, Suu
Ran (ラン?)
Voiced by: Kana Asumi
The first to come out from Amu's Eggs. An athletic and honest character. Her hair is tied in a side pony tail. She has a pink sun visor, a red themed cheerleader outfit, and wears a heart shaped hair clip. Dislikes silence. During Chara Change, Amu gains increased athletic abilities. Little wings appear at her wrists and ankles, which allows her to jump high and fly. Having a straight forward personality, Ran made Amu confess her crush to Tadase on their first Chara Change.
Amu becomes "Amulet Heart" on Chara Become with Ran. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to the color pink. Amu dons a pink themed cheerleader costume in this form. Her special move is "Spiral Heart" which is executed with the Heart Rod. When Amu does Chara Change with Ran, Ran says "Hop, Step, Jump". Ran was seen on Peach-Pit's website before the publication of Shugo Chara! volume 1.
Miki (ミキ?)
Voiced by: Nanae Katō
A guardian chara with an artistic flair. A cool, quiet character. Her hairstyle is a short bob cut. She usually wears a pair of half-cut pants, a sky blue beret with a spade on it, and a blue themed outfit. Miki has shown an interest in both Tadase's Chara, Kiseki, and Ikuto's chara, Yoru. She comments that Yoru is cool and his tail is cute. This may imply the situation in Amu's heart.
The main ability after Chara Change is an increased artistic sense but that power is recklessly abused.
Amu becomes "Amulet Spade" on Chara Become with Miki. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to the color blue. Amu wears a white frilly blouse with a pair of hot pants, she also wears long, striped stockings and a garter belt; all in a blue themed costume. Her special move is "Colorful Canvas", where she paints with a giant paintbrush. Miki says "Drew, Draw, Drawn" during a Chara Change with Amu.
Suu (スゥ?)
Voiced by: Aki Toyosaki
A guardian chara skilled in baking sweets and doing house work. A "my pace" character that is prone to silly mistakes. She has short hair with the sides grown long, curling inwards. She wears a bandanna on her head with a clover shaped hair clip and a green theme maid outfit. Dislikes caterpillars. Amu gains an improvement in cooking during Chara Change. Magical abilities like summoning large amounts of whip cream is also observed. In addition her speech and behavior becomes more lady-like.
Amu becomes "Amulet Clover" on Chara Become with Suu. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to the color green. She wears a green themed balloon skirt maid costume. Her special skill is "Remake Honey", a restoration type skill. Suu says "Chip, Syrup, Whip" during a Chara Change with Amu.
Ran's, Miki's and Suu's Chara Become all share another special skill, "Open Heart!". A skill that cleanse X Eggs and X Chara.
Dia (ダイヤ Daiya?) (official name unknown)
Dia is Amu's fourth Shugo Chara, with a musical flair. She became an X-Egg, and then hatched as an X-Character in Chapter 17, after being discovered by Utau. Shortly after this, the character that emerged Became Character with Utau, forming 'Dark Jewel', and made a reappearance in Chapter 25 in a fight against Amulet Devil. Her special move with Utau was 'Shining Black', in which a dark light attacks the opponent. This Become Character has a defect, however, as Utau is not Dia's true owner; the Become Character dissolves quickly after it forms.
As Amu does not know Dia's real name, and still does not, as of Chapter 26, she just calls her 'Dia', a shorter form of 'Diamond'.
Dia became an X-Egg because of the change in surroundings, like Kukai graduating and Nadeshiko studying abroad. Usually X-Eggs form because of 'problems in the owner's heart', which shows that Amu has changed throughout the series from her inapproachable self to someone who socializes easily.
In Chapter 25, Amu convinces Dia that she can change, and so the 'X-Mark' was lifted, sparking Become Character, and making both the lock and key react. At the beginning of Chapter 26, Amulet Diamond was formed. Amu wears a futuristic outfit, in the style of an idol with lots of pleats, and pigtails, with a white headband. The Humpty Lock shines yellow.
Dia's true form differs from her X-Form - her true self is portrayed as a rather giddy and excited character, much like an idol may appear, whereas her X-Self was often seen as inapproachable. Her outfit changes from a 60s style dress, to a two piece with white boots. Her hair, which was at first portrayed as a 60s-style ponytail, became pigtails - both hairstyles included incredibly long hair, much unlike Amu's other characters. She has red-hair and orange-eyes.

Kiseki (キセキ?)
Voiced by: Kaya Miyake
Kiseki is Tadase's Guardian Chara. He looks like a mini Tadase with different-colored hair. He is extremely egotistical, loves to dominate but also has tsundere characteristics. He is always trying to outshine Yoru. His bearing is that of typical "king's fashion", complete with crown and mantle. Kiseki also occasionally calls meetings that require all the Guardian Charas to gather. In volume one, Miki seems to have a crush on him, saying he is cool. Likes to give orders but does not like to obey. Suffers from pollen allergy like Tadase.
Kiseki can do Chara Change with Tadase. When this happens, Tadase gains a golden crown and king’s scepter. The only reason he usually character changes is to help Tadase become confident and if Tadase is called ‘prince’.
After the "Black Diamonds" incident, he became able to Chara Become with Tadase. Tadase becomes "Platina Royale" on Chara Become and used the special skill "White Decoration", a skill thought to be a restoration skill.

When either she or Yaya get hurt or something goes wrong, both of them will begin to whine and cry in unison. Pepe could be described as a crybaby.

Kukai’s Guardian Character is Daichi. Daichi is very good at sports and can't seem to sit still. He was born when Kukai want to do many sports but had to choose. He wears a sweatband around his head, shorts, and a sporty T-shirt. Daichi was able to do Chara Become with Kukai once, resulting in "Sky Jack".
Kusu Kusu (クスクス?)
Kusu Kusu is Rima's Guardian Character. She wears a full-body clown suit and has a star drawn under one eye and a tear drop under the other.

Yoru
Yoru
Yoru (ヨル?)
Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro
Ikuto's Guardian Chara, Yoru, has cat-like features. He wears a pair of paw gloves and boots and dresses in punk fashion style. Yoru has a freedom loving stray cat image and often wanders around wherever he pleases without staying with Ikuto. Yoru loves to tease and annoy Kiseki, who in turn tries to do things only Yoru can do, like climb on buildings and railings. He also seems to be scared of dogs.
When Yoru and Ikuto perform Chara Change, Ikuto grows cat ears and a tail. In Chara Become, Ikuto wears a spend-like outfit, has cat ears and a tail, and uses a glove with metal claws. In volume two, Miki seems to like Yoru as well as Kiseki, though, has more complements showing she has more of a crush on Yoru than Kiseki.
Iru (イル?)
Iru is Utau's first Guardian Chara. She has short, dark hair and devil wings, tail, and horns. She wears a two piece skirt and top that seem to come on as if they were bats. Mean, unkind and dislikes nagging. When she and Utau perform Chara Become, Utau sprouts bat wings and many wing shaped accessories. Her special move in "Lunatic Charm" form is "Nightmare Lorelei".In chapter 25, Iru does a becoming character with Amu in order to try and save Utau and becomes "Amulet Devil".
Eru (エル?)
Eru is Utau’s second Guardian Chara. Has an angel appearance. Eru is gentle hearted and seemed to be treated badly. Eru left home and is now in the care of Amu. She uses english words like "wait" and "shut up" in her speech. Likes to nag, dislikes meaness and unkindness.
Eru performed Chara Become with Amu once, resulting in "Amulet Angel", which surprised Utau. The clover decoration of her Humpty Lock changes to white colour. Her special move is "White Flag". As Amu is not the real owner as the Chara Become quickly dissolves after it forms.
Eru finally performed Chara Become in Chapter 26 with Utau, forming Seraphic Charm. Utau wears a typically angelic dress in a Sweet Lolita style. Shortly after transforming, Utau helps Amu purify the X-Eggs.
